Windows Mobile 5.0 Prodcast - Brian Holt, Product Manager, Mobile and Embedded Division
For the past three months, I've carried the Palm Treo 700w from Verizon Wireless, which is based on the new Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system. I have to say I've never been happier with a device in all my years in the computer industry. For me, it's a perfect blend of cell phone and mobile device, providing quality coverage and seamless access to my Exchange email and other data. My delight with the Treo got me thinking that I should probably do a prodcast on Windows Mobile 5.0 and how it can help information workers be more productive.
Brian Holt, a Product Manager in Microsoft's Mobile and Embedded Devices division, spent some time with me on the phone last week. In this prodcast, Brian explores the trends of mobility devices and how the great combination of powerful OEM devices, broad carrier support, and innovative software makes Windows Mobile 5.0 stand out against some of the other players in this space. He talks about how Windows Mobile devices are more user friendly, easier to manage and provide greater choice of form factors and features. Brian mentions a couple of the more interesting phones that are either recently out or upcoming, such as the Motorola "Q" or the new Samsung i320. He also touches on the future of Windows Mobile devices over the next year or two.
If you are thinking about buying a new cell phone or if your company is evaluating mobile devices, listen to this interview and get excited about Windows Mobile 5.0!
